About

Simple Life is one developer's notebook: self-hosted services, cloud server picks, .NET development and deployment, and a running experiment with FIRE (financial independence, retire early). It has been updated since 2023.

About the author

ansh has been building with .NET since 2014, mostly ASP.NET Core back ends and deployment work — Linux, Docker, CI/CD pipelines and a long series of cloud servers.

What is covered here

  • Development: .NET, MAUI, tooling and automated deployment workflows
  • Cloud servers: real comparisons and pitfalls of Hong Kong and Singapore instances
  • Self-hosting: installing, migrating and maintaining services like the Qinglong panel
  • FIRE: budgeting, cutting costs, and what financial independence looks like in practice

Why write

It started as notes to myself, because the same problem gets forgotten within six months. Then some of the posts turned out to help people arriving from search engines, so the notes kept going.
